Monday, June 23: 11:19 a.m., Called A. Lang. No answer, will try later; 12:31 p.m., picked up Adam’s laptop mount; 1:30 p.m., took 2004 squad car to Triers in Columbia City for repairs; 3:10 p.m., Called to BP in reference to a male who advised he forgot his wallet he would be back in 45 minutes to pay. That was two hours ago; 1:20 p.m., subject’s name is James Brock, left telephone number, but it was disconnected. The registration came back to Mary Paul in Fort Wayne. Will try to locate.
Tuesday, June 24: 12:10 p.m., Talked to M. Paul in reference to yesterday’s drive-off at the BP. She advised that she traded the green 1994 Jimmy in at the Saturn dealership. She gave me the dealer’s name, C. Diss. I talked to him and he will try and find out where the Jimmy went; 4:35 p.m., subject in to check on getting an accident report, $3.
Wednesday, June 25: 12:30 p.m., Talked with C. Diss again about the gas theft. He gave me more names and numbers on how to track down the owner of the Jimmy; 5:01 p.m., county assist on property damage accident accident in lot of Precision Sharpening, Heffner/Imbody. I requested she call family to come get her and the car … she was very cooperative. Can’t get printer to print out a report; 7:45 p.m., call to Whitley County from female resident in 100 block of East Tulley Street … she and her family had placed a protective order against J. Shane and it was served yesterday. She was frustrated over some gossip she heard and she called to speak her mind about it. I told her it’s not good to ask (Whitley County Sheriff’s Department) for help and then call and yell at them. Called all and advised that all talking and name calling has got to stop.
Thursday, June 26: 7:20 a.m., verbal warning for speeding to Dustin P. Byerly, driving black Z28; 10 a.m., Unit 1 to Columbia City to pick up new battery at J & K Communications, got purchase order from Town Hall; 10 p.m., fuel, 11.4 gallons.
Friday, June 27: 6:10 a.m., report of possible sleepy driver southbound on U.S. 33 from C.R. 750 East, caller had no plate info, only description is a maroon car, passenger, possible a Corsica; 8:50 a.m., lock out (of a vehicle) at the United Methodist Church; 9:30 a.m., Whitley County signaled in regard to subject requesting a 72-hour hold (for mental health evaluation) … caller went to local doctor’s office and they do not have the paperwork that is needed; 9:45 a.m., observed trash on the parking lot of the Methodist Church where the lock out had been. Would appear to be same trash I saw inside the car when I unlocked it. I believe several vehicles are parking in the corner of the lot to visit a friend across the street. Spoke with Mr. Wilson at the church and he said no one has asked permission to park in the lot and when I advised him about the trash, he stated that none of them would be welcome on the lot. Went to house on Clingerman Avenue and no one would come to the door. I will keep watching in order to advise them; 11:35 a.m., assist and stand by while they effect a 72-hour commitment at Blue Lake, never stepped foot on property, subject in custody; 11:45 a.m., complaint from resident on North Line Street, an aggressive dog is chasing and growling at her grandchildren. Issued verbal warning to Charlotte Dehl for animals running at large. Next time - citation!; 12:25 p.m., Whitley County signaled in reference to driver northbound on U.S. 33 from McDonalds, speeding and passing on double yellow line, white Ford SUV … gave citation for disregarding automatic signal to Compton, Charles T. and a verbal warning for not signing registration. He was at B. Pott’s. He is to drop off a statement for me by Sunday afternoon and put it in my box; 1 p.m., Whitley County signaled in reference to a possible battery. (Juvenile) was jumped by (juveniles) while he was mowing … won’t say what it’s about. Gave his mom all of the statement forms, she is taking him to be checked out by a doctor. I took some pictures and then went to his dad’s house on Harold Road, but he was not there. The family will drop off statement forms and I will send to probation; 6:30 p.m., dog complaint; 9:15 p.m., dog back at shop.
Saturday, June 28: 10:36 p.m., Whitley County called in reference to possible prowlers at a residence … happened 20 minutes ago; 10:45 p.m., at residence, nothing found, I put a new light bulb in her outside light so she could see; 10:47 p.m., verbal warning for headlight out and blue light to Gerardo Rodriguez of Goshen.
Sunday, June 29: 1:43 a.m., verbal warning for speeding to Robert W. Barnes of Columbia City; 5:35 p.m., Potts dropped off material for Unit 3; 5:40 p.m., subject by the name of David Barnes stopped in and advised he believes he left his wallet in local store while making a purchase. When he went back to check, they were closed. He lives in Hicksville, Ohio, and left his name and cell phone number in case they find it; 6:15 p.m., Whitley County dispatch in regard to a call from R. Holloway about her dog. The one taken to shelter yesterday may be hers. I advised dispatch she can contact the shelter on Monday to check.
Monday, June 30: 12:14 a.m., Whitley County dispatch in regard to unwanted party at Mill Street residence … C.J. called and said that her ex-boyfriend would not leave; 12:15 a.m., couldn’t find him, was told by a friend of his that he could be at the Mill Street house. Went there and could not get an answer at the door … started to check the area; 12:47 a.m., found the reported subject in his vehicle with a bike behind the car at Dugley Road. The vehicle isn’t operable and he isn’t being a problem. I called his mother to come and get him in reference to him being intoxicated. Warned him about being charged with criminal trespass at caller’s house. He did not take the bike nor did he lock up the car … had miscellaneous fishing items inside; 1:36 a.m., Called Miss J. to tell her where we found him. She advised it was her bike. I showed her where it was and helped her load it up. Told her to possibly get a protective order against him tomorrow and to please call if he showed up again.
