Q. What is the law pertaining to seat belts and pickup trucks? –Chris S., Churubusco
A. The Indiana State Statue below is the seat belt law and, as it reads you are not permitted to ride in the back of a forward moving pickup truck. Thanks for the question.
Safety Standard Number 208 (49 CFR 571.208); and
(2) is standard equipment installed by the manufacturer;
shall have a safety belt properly fastened about the occupant’s body at all times when the vehicle is in forward motion.
The above State Statue is the seat belt law and, as it reads you are not permitted to ride in the back of a forward moving pickup truck. Thanks for the question.
