Cuno closing doors; up to 38 jobs lost

Cuno Incorporated, a 3M Company, has announced that it will close its Churubusco facility, located at 12628 U.S. 33.
The company plans to relocate equipment to their Enfield, Conn., headquarters and to close the Churubusco plant by the end of the year, according to 3M public affairs representative Dave Wefring.

Fall fundraiser raises money for next year’s festival fireworks

The Turtle Days Festival first-ever fall fundraiser was deemed a success by Turtle Days officers Sunday morning as they cleaned up and dismantled the tent where the 2-day fundraiser was held.
The event took place Saturday and Sunday and included a beer tent, live entertainment, a poker run, a raffle and barbecued chicken dinners.

Van downs utility pole

A Noble County woman and her children escaped injury Wednesday, Sept. 24, after their van clipped and downed a utility pole at the intersection of Blue Lake Road and U.S. 33.
According to police reports, Medic 21 treated and released the occupants of the van at the scene and no injuries were reported.

Paul A. Schmidt, 74, a resident of rural Churubusco, died at 9:45 p. m. on Friday, September 26, 2008, at his residence following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Black wins, Gold loses against Westview

The Churubusco sixth grade volleyball team won one, lost one against Westview Sept. 25.
Busco Black won 25-12, 16-25 and 15-10.
Busco Gold lost 16-25, 25-19, 7-15.
This week the team will have three home matches and will play in the elementary gym.

Eagles capture Harding Invitational volleyball tournament

Churubusco won the Harding Invitational Saturday, defeating New Haven in straight sets, 25-21 and 25-19 in the championship tilt.
They earned their way to the championship match by going undefeated in pool play. They started the day by besting Norwell in the first match, 25-23 and 25-17.

Scott Kruse, longtime director of the Whitley Superior Court Drug and Alcohol Program, celebrated his final days with the program Thursday.
