Monday, Sept. 8:
1:49 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 4, report of a possible drunk driver who just pulled into Farmers and Merchants Bank.
1:50 a.m. - Arrested for second operating while intoxicated (OWI), OWI w/controlled substance, OWI per se, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia - Michael E. Raska of Fort Wayne.
8 a.m. - Paperwork and running to Whitley County office.
8:34 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 11, report of breaking and entering in progress on Mill Street. (For more on this story, go to Busco burglar …)
8:35 a.m. - Checked out. Entry made, few things taken, no suspect.
12:30 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 11, report of personal injury accident on U.S. 33 south of Noble Line.
12:34 - Assisted with traffic.
2:05 p.m. - Unit 1 … subject at South Main in and advised that last night (this morning) around 2:45 a.m., his wife was up and saw someone looking in the windows, but did not call the police. Extra patrol requested.
2:15 p.m. - School check.
2:30 p.m. - Allen County dispatch, report of breaking and enteing in progress on Bryie Road. White male with white T-shirt and blue jeans trying to kick in back door of residence.
2:39 p.m - At Bryie Road along with several Allen County units - male ran north from the residence toward S.R. 205.
3:20 p.m. - K-9 unit searched the area, found nothing.
Tuesday, Sept. 9:
12:10 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, subject phoned in to report following a possible drunk driver northbound on S.R. 205 from C.R. 300 N - vehicle is all over the roadway and almost caused a head-on accident.
12:16 a.m. - Unit 4, issued a misdemeanor citation for driving while suspended to Timothy W. Peters of Churubusco.
7:53 a.m. Citation for speeding, 70/55, to Shawn Flora.
11:15 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, report of two mopeds at Threshers Ridge; one just drove through the caller’s yard at Wheatfield. I talked to two subjects. Told them to stop going through peoples’ yards. They said the lady had yelled at them before and they did not ride through her yard, but did ride through two other yards. Told them to stop.
8:05 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, report of a small child standing at the corner of Mulberry and Pleasant streets.
8:06 p.m. - Unit 1, Family member is with a small 2-year-old girl who wandered away from home in 200 block of West Pleasant Street. I could hear the girls’ brother yelling from the residence.
8:20 p.m. - Unit 1, girl’s mother said she looked all over the housefor little girl, but not outside. I advised mother she needs to keep a closer eye on her daughter. Will forward report to Child Protective Services.
10:22 p.m. - Trip to Columbia City to pick up J-4.
Wednesday, Sept. 10:
12:15 a.m. - To Columbia City to drop off J-4.
9:20 a.m. - Unit 1, Subject called to report a large truck turned onto Western Avenue from Whitley Street and drove into Pat Liggett’s yard, made ruts and cracked her new asphalt driveway.
2 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 3, Call J. Schumaker in reference to missing child report yesterday.
2:20 p.m. - Unit 3, Subject from Noble County called in reference to a trailer check … I referred him to Noble County.
8:30 p.m. - Unit 3, Spent a lot of time walking the neighborhood in the 300 block of Mill Street … showed the picture to Carl, he did not recognize the alleged burglar subject or the Blue Ford Focus the suspect was driving. The only other info was a report of a dark blue Crown Victoria type vehicle with very dark tinted windows. This same vehicle was also seen on C.R. 375 N about 8:10 a.m. (Monday) driving very slowly. Seemed odd …
Thursday, Sept. 11:
9:45 a.m. - A. Wies in to pick up a copy of case report.
9:50 a.m. - Unit 1, Mahlon Peters called … wanting to renew his handgun permit. Unit 2 will call when it is done. It expires in November.
3:15 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 11, report of property damage accident on South Main Street in front of CVS.
3:15 p.m. - Driver seemed fine when I arrived, out of vehicle and walking around, but then began to have head and neck pain. Medic 21 made the scene and transported to Parkview downtown Fort Wayne. Subject left her vehicle on the lot of the orthodontist until family can pick it up.
7:30 p.m. - Unit 11, D. Nichterin to pick up the keys to vehicle from earlier accident.
10:20 p.m. - Chuck Mathieu advised that they are having salt pallets come up missing at Egolf’s IGA. Asked if we could patrol and watch for.
Friday, Sept. 12:
8:40 a.m. - Unit 3, report of battery shop in Noble County, 500E/500S, for a lock out.
11:45 a.m. - Unit 3, Subject - Greg from Continental Research - looking for Chad. He left his card. Was trying to sell flash lights.
3 p.m. - Unit 11, Subjects on station to report three male Hispanics who have been in the area of 7800 E. U.S. 33 asking for gas and looking in windows of houses and garages. They have been driving a tan or brown 2003 or 04 Chevy, boxy style, no plate info. Been in area a couple of times, including sometime last night.
4:30 p.m. - Unit 11, A. Fragodt on station for gun permit.
5 p.m. - Property damage accident at 100 S. Main Street.
5:01 p.m. - Accident involving S. Buchanan and B. Rosswurm. No alcohol.
8 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 11, welfare check in the 400 block of south Washington Street.
11:32 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 4, alarm, check out Tomlinson’s Gun Store. 11:33 p.m. - Building is secure. County arrived. Key holder arrived. We checked the building, nothing found.
Saturday, Sept. 13:
12:23 a.m. - Unit 4, C. Bullock called and stated that A. Lemish has been driving by the house making derogatory remarks and gestures … she has a protective order against him.
12:30 a.m. - Attempted to call him, but did not get an answer. Found him at home … I told him if he was doing what she is saying to stop or he would end up in jail.
2:34 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 4, caller stated that he heard the fellowship church bell.
2:34 a.m. - The church doors and windows are secure
3:26 a.m. - Whitley County dispatch, report of property damage accident oin the 5700 block of U.S. 33. One vehicle left and it is still in the roadway.
3:29 a.m. - Unit 4, Cody McCoy of Churubusco ran off the roadway and rolled his car … his parents were already there. County is in route … County made the arrest and the accident report. I waited for Rohrer’s Towing and removal of car.
5 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 11, report of erratic driver on U.S. 33 from C.R. 750E.
5:04 p.m. - Out with vehicle, a Blazer pulling another SUV on a trailer. Followed for a short time. The trailer itself was weaving slightly in the lane, but the driver was driving fine and not speeding.
Sunday, Sept. 14:
12 noon - Unit 11, Subject called stating that he had lost his keys, possibly in the area of the post office. There are several keys including a large gray auto key on Chrysler remote entry.
2:20 p.m. - Whitley County dispatch, Unit 1, accident, two vehicles need towed, Furman vs Hampshire vs Comer - no alcohol.
6:55 p.m. - Security signal at Perry’s Country Store in reference to front door.
7 p.m. - Front door of store is standing wide open. Had county try and make contact with owners, but they must be having phone trouble; unable to make contact.
