Annual adoption celebration will be held Sunday

Radio station Star 88.3’s tenth Annual Adoption Celebration will be Sunday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.
The event is hosted by Parkview Family YMCA, 10001 Dawsons Creek Blvd., Fort Wayne.
Special guest will be national comedian and ventriloquist, David Pendleton.

Afternoon wrecks keep emergency crews hopping

Two accidents today - one at approximately 12:23 p.m. and another five hours later, kept police and emergency crews working outside in the first inclement weather of the season.
The first wreck happened on U.S. 33 north of Churubusco near the entrance to Turtle Town Plaza and Thresher’s Ridge. Rain and sleet made for slick roadways.

Harold G. “Hap” Anderson, 94, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, died at 3:30 p. m. on Monday, October 27, 2008, at the North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion.  He had been in failing health for some time, and been a patient there since August.

Students busy practicing for smash hit, Le Miserables

Busco tops Fremont in NECC Sectional action

The Churubusco High School volleyball team prevailed over Fremont Thursday in NECC Sectional tourney action, beating them 25-16, 25-8 and 25-13.
Alexis Bankson had a tremendous showing with 22 assists, 5 aces and 6 digs.  Defensive specialist Danielle Hartmann came through with 16 digs, while sophomores Ashlie Shelton and Brianne Burkhart had four digs each.

Mahle Clevite plant in Busco to close in 2009

According to an article in the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette this morning, Mahle Clevite Inc. (formerly Dana Corporation) will shut down its Churubusco facility beginning early next year and continuing through 2009.
