This year the Churubusco PTO is trying something different - a “Trunk or Treat” night. This event will replace the Safe Trick or Treat held in years past.
The Halloween event will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6-8 p.m. in the school’s parking lot.
Volunteers are needed and PTO members are encouraging parents to line up their vehicles along the sidewalk in front of the school, dress in costume and pass out
treats from their trunks.
The event was held in the hallways of the school in years past, and PTO members said they would like to try something different this year.
Churubusco students will be released Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 22 and 23 at 11 a.m. and all day Friday, Oct. 24 for Fall Break.
Churubusco Elementary School classroom fall parties will be held Friday, Oct. 31.

I was a little concerned about the mixed message our small children will get receiving candy from strangers out of the trunks of cars. I think the decorated hall seem like a safer idea.

??? I agree leave a good thing alone. Alot safer and well what if the weather is Bad out???

In response to the mixed message, the school is not letting just anybody hand candy out of their trunk, these are local CES families and organizations. The kids are safer at the school event then they are going door to door taking candy from strangers houses around town. As far as the weather the cars will be backed up to the canopy where the buses park to provide shelter for the kids. Change can be good, lets give this event a chance.

Mr. Fulkerson-
I was a PTO and PTA Member for 12 years. (one for each year my 2 sons were in Elementary.) Held an Office also. AS for the Decorating the Halls and letting the community come in and be treated was always so much fun. To see the kids come thru with all the planning and hard work was all worth it. Just as the PTA and PTO Carnival also. I know the kids are safe at the school, and this year this is something different, and I hope for the Kids sake it all goes well. It is just hard to see the “Old Ways” go. As for Our Town and Kids, Trick - Treating “IN TOWN”, Well I Hope Parents (with there kids) Only trick - treat in there own Neighborhoods, friends and families of the people they know.
Happy Halloween and Stay Safe out there kids!
