Faith Christian Academy held their closing program and graduation in the sanctuary on May 28. The closing program was a play entitled “Four in the Furnace” and was their retelling of the Biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
“All of our students did so well in this play,” said Larry Schmoekel, administrator of the school. “The preschoolers song their hearts out, and then sat still for longer than any of us – especially their parents – thought they could.”
The play called for viewers to use their imagination to visualize the throne, idol, furnace , as well as colorful peacocks strutting about.
The entire student body took part, Schmoekel said.
“They all did such a great job! It didn’t seem to matter if their part was large or small, they did it the best they were capable of.”
Over 100 people were in attendance.
The original play was made possible by a grant from the Dekko Foundation and was presented under the direction of Joy Warrick, music director for the performance. Warrick worked with the children for many weeks in preparation for the end-of-year event.
