Churubusco Police Log June 1-11, 2009
Monday, June 1
8 a.m. -Unit 3; called to high school football field concession stand in reference to breaking and entering – not in progress.
8:02 a.m. – On scene. Subject entered through window facing field, also pried open a screen at the press box, only some soda and candy missing from concession stand.
8:20 a.m. – Lock out in front school lot.
6:10 a.m. – B. Rosswurm, $10, handgun permit.
8:35 p.m. – Unit 1, Whitley County Dispatch; suspicious vehicle drove back lane – a white vehicle, very loud, Anderson Road.
8:40 p.m. – Unit 1 arrived on scene; male, white, passed out in vehicle; arrested A. Clinger for public intoxication.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3
1:19 p.m. – Allen County dispatch; fight/domestic problem on Greenwald Road in Allen County.
1:45 p.m. – Unit 4 on scene; mother and daughter. Daughter is leaving and mother does not want her back in the residence.
2:36 p.m. – Subject in to report an odd phone call she received last night, just wanted to make a report.
3:22 p.m. – Verbal warning for speeding to K. Beverly.
4:43 p.m. – Subject came in to report that her son did not come home from school and he left his cell phone at home and she can’t get ahold of any of his friends.
4:45 p.m. – Unit 4, I got ahold of school staff on the radio and he is in the gym … I met her at the school.
5:49 p.m. – Allen County dispatch, threats made to son by father on Madden Road.
6:45 p.m. – Unit 4 in service … misunderstanding between father/son … Father said some things after being upset his son that were taken wrong.
THURSDAY, JUNE 4
2:46 a.m. – Whitley County dispatch, Unit 2, accident, type unknown, North Blue Lake Road.
2:47 a.m. – Car hit into two other cars, pushing one into a house. Driver and passenger took off. found passenger down the street – a juvenile (17). Also, driver was found. Also, both had been drinking. No one was hurt.
7:45 a.m. – Unit 3; call vet office. A neighbor told them a police car had dropped off two dogs last night – a white one with a bad attitude and a black lab mixed breed. They have appointments today and don’t want the white one around. Unit 2 advised Unit 4 handled it.
12:24 a.m. – Whitley County dispatch, Unit 2. Possible intoxicated driver northbound from Carroll Road; off duty dispatcher in front of vehicle. She checked out OK; just a young lady coming home from work.
1:24 a.m. – Whitley County dispatch; subject on station in reference to he thinks someone shot his car with paint balls and yes, it does look like that. This happened on south U.S. 33, south of Churubusco Watch. Went out to area.
12:30 p.m. – Whitley C0unty dispatch; report of lockout at Busco Pride gas station ; kids in car.
4:29 p.m. – Unit 1; Whitley County dispatch, report of fight/civil disturbance on Blue Lake Road near Harrold Road. Male/female left their vehicle and are walking and fighting. Small child in baby seat dropped on road.
4:31 p.m. – Unit 92-12 arrived at scene. Decided to arrest both for disorderly conduct and possible child neglect. Talked with Prosecutor Matt Rentschler and he advised to let both go and go long form.
8:58 p.m. – Unit 1: fight, physical at Valero/Pride gas station.
8:59 p.m. – Arrived at scene. —- and —— were fighting. Both left before I got arrived.
9:05 p.m. – Subject returned to the scene and advised he has problems with —— and his brother-in-law. Both were at gas station and exchanged punches.
SATURDAY, JUNE 6
2:20 p.m. – Unit 1; Whitley County dispatch; Call G. Gilbertson. He resides in a nursing home in Fort Wayne. He advised his apartment had been burglarized. He said he is missing a diamond ring, Black Hills gold ring and a gold bracelet. There is no forced entry and a guy named Dick is boxing up his stuff by authorization of the landlord and told him he cannot find these items. At this time a written report only- no evidence of breaking and entering or burglary. Mr. Gilbertson advised he will not be moving back to Busco.
10:09 p.m. – Unit 4, citation for speeding and a verbal warning for learners permit violation (motorcycle) to D. Johnson.
10:45 p.m. – Verbal warning for headlight out.
11:55 p.m. – Whitley County dispatch; female subject called 911 for male that fell off of a bar stool and was knocked out. While on the phone with the medics, she stated he came around and they did not need medics.
SUNDAY, JUNE 7
12:05 a.m. – Unit 4 arrived at scene (bar) with Unit 92-14; subject left prior to arrival with his brother … info was passed on to Noble County due to them living at Wolf Lake.
1:12 a.m. – Verbal warning for license plate out and and blow a PBT (breathalyzer for alcohol consumption) of 0.06 percent. (Indiana’s legal limit for intoxication is .08 percent)
1:43 a.m. – Unit 4: subject stopped me at Subway and stated there is a white Camero northbound on U.S. 33 that is driving 5 mph and is all over the road.
1:44 a.m. – Car came into my lane and then into fog lane at Carlin Court; turned on vehicle and wouldn’t pull over when I turned on my emergency lights … stopped in the middle of the road and finally pulled into the Subway parking lot and into a parking space.
1:46 a.m. – Arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated per se, and driving while suspended – J. Sanchez Lopez of Fort Wayne; BAC (blood alcohol content) was 0.24 percent. (Indiana’s legal limit for intoxication is .08 percent) Made use of County’s Spanish translator.
2:30 p.m. – Unit 3, Malcolm was in in reference to gun permit renewal. His info is on the clip.
6 p.m. – Whitley County dispatch, subject on station … needed directions to the jail.
MONDAY, JUNE 8
3:02 a.m. – Went on on report of loud party in area of Hathaway and Johnson roads.
11 a.m. – Unit 1, did gun permit for Malcolm and Kregers.
10:10 p.m. – Unit 92-9: someone found a black lab in the area of Mill Street; took to Dr. Welsh’s and placed it in the pen.
TUESDAY, JUNE 9
3 p.m. – Lock out … Tomlinson.
5:01 p.m. – Whitley County dispatch, report of motorcycle down at Clingerman Avenue and North Main Street.
5:03 p.m. – Unit 2, arrived at scene; D. Millier; no other vehicle involved. He just had to stop real fast to keep from hitting another vehicle that was making a left turn onto Clingerman Ave.
7:01 p.m. – Whitley County dispatch, Unit 2; report of subject with self-inflicted gun shot at East U.S. 33. found subject on back porch on floor; condition B-1.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 10
8:30-11:30 a.m. – Unit 3, 10-76 – at government building for EVOC training.
2:11 p.m. – Whitley County dispatch, Sig. 8 at Churubusco Public Library; they want me to deliver a paper.
2:18 p.m. – Unit 2, Out at residence on E. Anderson Road, delivering paper regarding overdue books.
7:35 p.m. – Traffic stop, possible intoxicated driver.
2000 – Gun permit to A. Malcolm.
THURSDAY, JUNE 11
7:18 a.m. – Whitley County dispatch, Unit 2; Possible intoxicated driver just left McGuire Road and is northbound on CR 650E in blue pickup truck.
11:21 a.m. – Lock out at United Methodist Church.
11:30 a.m. – Whitley County dispatch, report animal complaint – dog out in rain again on North Thresher Run; gave verbal warning.
