Lauretta I. Mowan, 75, formerly of Smith Township, Whitley County, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Renaissance Village where she had been a resident since March 2007.
She was born December 7, 1933 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of Jesse and Rose (Witte) Simon. A lifelong Whitley County resident, she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1951.
On May 24, 1959 she married Billy J. Pence. Mr. Pence died May 27, 1977.
She was a Churubusco rural route mail carrier for 20 years, owned & operated the 33 Club in Churubusco for 13 years along with her husband Billy, worked at Farm Bureau Insurance for five years and Citizens National Bank for four years.
