Local stars shine in ‘Celebrating Broadway’ concert

CHURUBUSCO, Ind. – The Turtletown Players community theater group wowed their audience with a medley of Broadway hit songs at “Celebrate Contemporary Broadway” Sunday, June 21 at the Churubusco United Methodist Church.

Under the direction of Harold Norman, 22 singers performed popular Broadway hits from Beauty & the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Les Miserables, Hairspray and others.

Melissa Baughman performed the overture and was the accompanying pianist for the musical event, and Jason Eakins was the sound director.

Performers included:

  • Dan Hile, Nicole Byerley – “I’ll Cover You – Reprise” from Rent
  • Tori Schemm – “Beauty & the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast
  • Garry Jones – “Walkin’ Blues” from Ain’t Nothing but the Blues
  • Taylor Bock – “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid
  • Richelle Bock, Dan Hile – “The Song That goes Like This” from Spamalot
  • Liz Schemm – “Someone Like You” from Jekyll & Hyde
  • Greg Childs – “Close Every Door” from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
  • Noah and Cheryl Stucker – “Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King
    Richelle Bock and Dan Hile sing "Spamalot."
  • Leslie Shively – “I’m Not That Girl” from Wicked
  • Cassandra Petrie – “Wishing you Were Somehow Here Again” from the Phantom of the Opera
  • Val Eakins – “Show Off” from The Drowsy Chaperone.
  • Brenan Herendeen – “She’s got a Way” from Movin’ Out
  • Cassandra and Cathy Petrie – “For Good” from Wicked
  • Nicole Byerley – “I Can Hear the Bells” from Hairspray
  • Richelle Bock, Greg Childs – “All I Ask of You” from The Phantom of the Opera
  • Zane Sade – “Stars” from Les Miserables
  • Carmen Fitzpatrick, Debra Rohrer, Cheryl Stucker and Richelle Bock – “I’m a Woman” from Smokey Joe’s Cafe
  • Nicole Byerley, Brenan Herendeen – “I’d Give it All For You” from Songs for a New World

Proceeds from the concert went to the Turtletown Players Scholarship Endowment Fund held by the Whitley County Community Foundation.
