Hercules is lucky that a passerby recently heard him barking in the basement of an abandoned house. Apparently he was being fed daily, but he doesn’t act like he’s seen very much of the world in his very short life (which we estimate at around 1-year-old).

Hercules would be a magnificent pet, but will need training to learn how to behave in society outside of an abandoned basement. He really wants to be around people (he has been attention-starved!) but will need to learn the basics (like not jumping up).

Could you be the person to show Hercules what he’s been missing out on?

Visit the shelter – and Hercules – at 951 S. Line St., Columbia City. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 2-7 and Saturday, 1-5.

Those interested also may call 260-244-6664 or go to the WCHS Web site at www.hswc.org.
