The Humane Shelter & Adoption Center of Whitley County is the official shelter name, although the Challenge uses Petfinder’s name as well – Whitley County Animal Shelter. the shelter is the community’s facility for homeless and abandoned pets. They provide abandoned animals with food and a warm place to sleep, give them basic veterinary care, and try to find good homes for the animals. The shelter also sponsors low-cost cat spay and neuter days.
Petfinder is an online, searchable database of animals that need homes, and a directory of almost 12,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
