Gene A. Sheets

Gene A. Sheets, 81, of Huntington, Ind., and formerly of Churubusco, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at 10:25 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born June 22, 1928, in Plum Tree to Charles O. and Lucy D. Young Sheets. He married Ilene E. Maley on June 5, 1951, in Huntington. She preceded him in death in October 2004.

Mr. Sheets served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Noll Printing in Huntington after 29 years of service. He also worked for Container Corporation in Fort Wayne for 10 years and the Logansport Press for three years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160, Roanoke, and V.F.W. Post 2689, Huntington.

Surviving are a son, David (Pamala) Sheets, of Spring Town, Tex.; two daughters, Marcia Hoffman and Jean (Michael) Baughman, both of Churubusco; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
