Lutheran Diabetes Education Offers Free Glucose Meter Upgrade Day, Other Events

diabetes_check_FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Nov. 11, 2009) – Lutheran Hospital’s diabetes educators are hosting a glucose meter upgrade day Nov. 18, 9-11 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. at 7836 W. Jefferson Blvd. on the Lutheran Hospital campus. Individuals with diabetes can upgrade to a new meter at no cost. They must bring their current meter with them for the free exchange. Diabetes educators will also be available to answer questions.

In addition to the free meter upgrade, Lutheran Diabetes Education is also sponsoring two upcoming events for individuals with diabetes. On Saturday, Nov. 14, 1-3 p.m., an Ask the Educator/Ask the Pharmacist event will take place at the Walgreens located at 5435 E. Dupont Road. Walgreens’ pharmacy manager and a diabetes educator from Lutheran Hospital will be available to answer questions during this time.

In early December, Rudy Kachmann, M.D., will present the seminar “Coping with Diabetes.” This one-hour program will take place Monday, Dec. 7, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at 7836 W. Jefferson Blvd. Call 260.435.7844 for more information about any of the above events.

Other Lutheran Health Network hospitals are also offering activities throughout November in recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month. Free glucose screening and Ask the Educator events take place:
