CHURUBUSCO, Ind. – If you are interested in whether or not the Smith-Green Community Schools’ board of directors will vote to move forward with the proposal to reconfigure Smith-Green, you will not have to wait much longer.

The administration held two parent meetings to discuss the reconfiguration proposal.

The administration held two parent meetings to discuss the reconfiguration proposal.

The board plans to vote on the proposal at a special meeting scheduled this Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. in the CHS/CMS library.

At the Dec. 7 school board meeting, Smith-Green Schools’ administration presented the proposal to the board in hopes the board would approve it and they could move forward with the plan; instead, the board tabled the decision pending receiving more information.

Those who feel strongly about the plan, one way or the other, should contact the board members before Wednesday in order for the thoughts to be taken into consideration. To quote SGCS Superintendent Steve Darnell, “We want what you want.” Tell the school board members what you want to happen.

Let us here at Buscovoice know, as well. And remember, you heard it first at Buscovoice.com.

Dump the middle school concept!! the idea from the outset has been a failure. The educrats who foisted this scam were interested in “socialization”,not properly educating students.Board members back your administration .

How will the general public know this vote is rescheduled? The school Board said it would be AFTER their retreat? Or is this the only way the administration gets their own way without any more distractions??
I think it is more a way to protect their own jobs because of a falling grad rate. The problem is the low achievement rates of the ELEMENTARY school, that carries on through the rest of their schooling. It’s time to look at what the ELEMENTARY staff is teaching and give the students there some achievement tests before allowing them to move on. “Feel good ” teaching is just that, however it does not prepare the kids for the real world! What about some consistency in what is expected from students from grade one to twelve? The same standards all the way through?? You are not saving money, you are creating a position in the high school for Mr. Davis that is not there, plus hiring another Vice Principal for the failing elementary. How does that save money? Is Mr. Davis taking a pay cut?
