Posted on 26 December 2009

Glen D. Ott, 82, a resident of rural Churubusco, died at 7:57 p. m. on Thursday, December 24, 2009, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville following an extended illness.  He had been taken to the hospital on Tuesday from the North Ridge Village Nursing & Rehab Center in Albion.

Mr. Ott was born on August 6, 1927 in Eel River Township in Allen County, a son of Thomas Lawrence and Laura Pearl (Fisher) Ott, and spent his formative years on the family farm there.  He graduated from Huntertown High School, and was engaged in farming there until 1980 when he sold the farm to his son and moved to Churubusco.  He retired in 1987 as a machinist and fork lift operator for Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after 38 years.

He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, east of Churubusco.  In his leisure time he enjoyed Angus cattle, fishing and spending time at the lake in the summer, wintering in Lakeland, Florida, and most especially loved and enjoyed his wife and family.

On May 28, 1948 he was married in Wolf Lake to Phyllis G. Bender.  She preceded him in death on August 30, 2009.

The surviving relatives include his children Judy (Roy) Langdon of Sheridan, Larry (Christina) Ott of Albion, and Jerry A. (Pamela) Ott of Churubusco; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
