The first annual Tom Fletcher Memorial Golf Outing & Texas hold ‘em Event will be Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Eel River Golf Course and Clubhouse. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with the golf tourney starting at 1 p.m.

The Florida Scramble golf and Texas hold ‘em tournament is $65 per person for the golf portion; $50 per person for the poker tournament.

The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch and a 6-pack (per cart).

Events include:

• 

  Tom Fletcher having a good time at last year's Turtle Days Festival.
  Long Drive contest – First 100 players signed and paid;
• Closest to the Pin contest  – Payout for top 5 at final table;
• 50/50 Drawing – 20, 15, 10, 8 and 5 percent of total entries;
• Putting contest – Skins Side games available;
• Payout for top 3 teams;
• All games must be finished by midnight.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the golf tournament and during the hold ‘em tournament. The hold ‘em tournament will start around 5:30 p.m. There is a discounted rate of $100 for participants who register for both events.

The event is a fundraiser for the inaugural Tom Fletcher Memorial scholarship fund and the Churubusco Turtle Days Festival Association.

Tom Fletcher – who died January 13 at the age of 57 – was a dedicated member of the Churubusco Turtle Days Association and a huge fan of Churubusco Eagles football.

This tourney is the start of an annual scholarship foundation that will be offered to a Churubusco High School student, and will be based on community service.
