Center Stage Dance Academy recently had five dancers chosen to audition for an invitation only audition at New American Youth Ballet. Four of the chosen five were able to attend the audition and three of them were accepted into the school.

It’s almost that time, Guys and Dolls is just a day away. The cast and crew have been rehearsing and preparing for this weekend for at least 6 weeks. For Alex McDowell, that was the last 6 weeks he will spend rehearsing for a Churubusco High School production. McDowell, a senior, has been active in theatre and the Fine Arts at CHS since he was in middle school; he made his CHS debut as a middle schooler in The Will Rogers’ Follies playing the young son of Will Rogers.

If you have ever attended a Churubusco High School production, this next person probably needs no introduction; chances are you will probably recognize her as the trouble-making Agnes, daughter of Mr. Smith, in Meet Me in St. Louis, the endearing but dreadfully unintelligent Lenya in Fools, or perhaps the hilarious but crass Madame Thenardier Les Miserables, a role for which she earned a Best Supporting Actress Award. Of course, I am referring to Taylor Sordelet.

Churubusco High School’s spring musical Guys and Dolls is rapidly approaching and the cast has been working hard to bring you a fantastic show. Cassandra Petrie is one of those hard-working cast members as she will be playing the role of Sarah, one of the leads. Petrie is no stranger to the theatre; if any of you have seen a show at Churubusco, whether it be a high school show or the Turtletown Players community theatre, you will probably recognize her.
