Vickie Powell was the grand prize raffle ticket winner of $750 at the Annual Turtle Days Festival. Three members of the Brumbaugh family swept the karaoke contest and six winners in two age divisions were announced at the Turtle Days Talent show.

The Turtle Run 5K has become a popular addition to the annual Turtle Days Festival and this year was co-sponsored by Youth For Christ and the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel.

Oscar the Turtle will be this year’s Grand Marshal of the 2009 Turtle Days Festival parade and the 60th anniversary celebration of the Hunt for Oscar. And, another famous turtle, Crunch, will be the special guest at an exhibit at this year’s Turtle Days Festival, June 17-20.

Get ready for the The 60th Celebration of “Oscar” 2009! It’s been 60 years since the Town of Churubusco and people from around the world were captivated by headlines of a giant turtle sighted in a nearby lake. A great search for the massive beast took place, but the turtle – dubbed Oscar by the media – got away.
