Winners named from raffles, talent show and karaoke

Vickie Powell was the grand prize raffle ticket winner of $750 at the Annual Turtle Days Festival. Three members of the Brumbaugh family swept the karaoke contest and six winners in two age divisions were announced at the Turtle Days Talent show.

Nearly 200 runners – ages 7-77 – take part in Turtle Run 5K

Oscar is Grand Marshal – Giant Alligator Turtle ‘Crunch’ is Guest Star at Turtle Days Festival

Oscar the Turtle will be this year’s Grand Marshal of the 2009 Turtle Days Festival parade and the 60th anniversary celebration of the Hunt for Oscar. And, another famous turtle, Crunch, will be the special guest at an exhibit at this year’s Turtle Days Festival, June 17-20.

It’s been 60 years since the Town of Churubusco and people from around the world were captivated by headlines of a giant turtle sighted in a nearby lake. A great search for the massive beast took place, but the turtle – dubbed Oscar by the media – got away.

Kirk Gray, president of the Churubusco Turtle Days Festival Board of Directors, was more than willing to show up Friday at National City Bank to accept a check for $2,500 toward the 2009 festival.
