We want to thank the many generous sponsors and merchants who gave so generously to the fall fundraiser for the Turtle Days Festival Association – the Oct. 10 OKturtlefest.

When we think of things in our homes that might cause burns, there are some obvious culprits. Curling irons. Stoves. Radiators. Tap water? As surprising as it sounds, it’s true.

The 2009 Turtle Days Festival Committee would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Turtle Days Festival a huge success, especially our sponsors. They included:

So many times we hear about today’s youth in a negative way. We would like to recognize the positive efforts of local middle school students and thank area businesses for their support.

Expectations were high but guarded, due to the current economic conditions. With numerous generous donations from businesses and individuals, the Churubusco community and others came out and enjoyed a terrific night of laughter, friendship, and bidding.

This is America. We are lucky enough to live in a country where we are allowed such freedoms as the right to form our own opinions and beliefs and express those opinions and/or beliefs. We are not allowed to condemn those who do not think or believe like we do. It is possible to stick to one’s beliefs and yet, at the same time, remain civil and simply agree to disagree.

I believe the gambling in Churubusco is outrageous! The people are selling tickets to known problem gamblers and nothing is being done about it.
