Fourteen years ago, Churubusco High School began hosting a men’s track invitational. The Eagles spent the first 11 years of the invite’s existence hosting, but not winning. That all changed in 2008, when the team won its own invitational for the first time in program history. The last 2 years have been just as lucrative for the Busco track program. On Saturday, the Eagles defeated 10 other teams to win their 3rd straight Busco Invite title.

Busco played tough, but still fell in tennis action April 15 against Fremont. The JV team had quite a few girls playing in spots that they don’t normally play, but they responded favorably to the pressure. “We had pretty good play from almost all of the girls from the top to the bottom,” Jagger said.

It’s that time of year again. The ground has thawed. The mix of sun, rain, wind and hail means that it is April in Indiana. For the Busco Track Program, April means invites. The men’s and women’s track teams will each be hosting an invitational this month.

The Busco girls tennis team really showed up to play today in action against Northrop. The Lady Eagles open conference play this Thursday as they travel up to Fremont. They face county-rival Columbia City at the Busco courts on Monday.

Although the Busco Men’s and Women’s Track teams already have three meets under their belts…the real season is just beginning. On Tuesday April 13th, the NECC season begins as the men and women travel to Emma to face the Westview Warriors. The teams will then host Lakeland and West Noble in an NECC three-way meet on Thursday April 15th.
