Busco takes on Prairie Heights in Tuesday night Sectional action at Garrett High School …

Coming off a two-game losing streak, it looked as though the Busco Boys Basketball team would be limping into the sectionals. The Eagles would certainly have their hands full. However, the Busco defense clamped down on the high-powered Warrior offense, blocking shots and forcing turnovers. The Eagle offense also showed up in a huge way as Busco outscored Wawasee 30 to 11 in the fourth quarter to secure an 89-69 victory over the favored Warriors.

Sometimes we don’t get a fairytale ending. Sometimes the result shocks us, disappoints us, and leaves us wanting. Jordan Hamilton’s career ended in the first round of the state finals. He was caught and pinned in the opening period of his match against Chatard’s Anthony Bell. But, that’s life. That’s sport.

He’s been there before. He’s made the trip. But this time it’s different. This is the end of the line. This is where the fat lady sings and the band rushes the field. He has a few more wins…a few more scars. He’s more battle-tested now. He’s been to the show. He’s seen what it takes. The stage has been set. Jordan Hamilton is heading to Conseco Fieldhouse for the State Wrestling Finals…one last time.

The weather may have kept the students out of school for a few days, but the Eagle Basketball players made the trip to Hamilton to face the Marines in NECC play on Thursday night.

The Busco boys basketball team did not start February off the way they had intended. Instead of extending their winning record, the boys fell to the Lakeland Lakers 73-50 and saw their record drop to 7-7 and the Churubusco Lady Eagles lost a close game to Lakeland’s Lady Lakers on Friday.

Saturday was the Carroll regional. Only a wrestling tournament at Carroll could combine Mossy Oak pajama bottoms with catered fettuccini from Casa’s.
