Pet of the Week – Eli
Sponsored by Fort Financial Credit Union
Eli is a very friendly and loving approximately 10-month-old Australian Shepherd-mix who was surrendered to the shelter by his owner who just didn’t have enough time for him.
Eli is housebroken, crate trained, cat and dog-friendly – and just a really good boy. This large pup is very loving and friendly, but needs some basic training (he jumps up like a puppy, but he is becoming a large dog). He loves to catch a ball, and he is really good at it. Eli will make some active family a magnificent pet!
If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please stop by the Whitley County Humane Shelter to meet Eli. The shelter is located at 951 S. Line St., Columbia City. Shelter hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 2-7 and Saturday, 1-5.

Pet of the Week
Brought to you by Fort Financial Credit Union
Peaches and her sister, BeeBee, were born (and orphaned) in early June 2009, and were bottle-fed as kittens.
Because of this, they are very affectionate, and comfortable with people. Although they’re older kittens, they are still quite playful and are adorable to watch while romping and playing together. If you’re thinking about adopting more than one cat, these littermates get along great and will give you hours and hours of enjoyment. But even if you only want one of them, they’re young enough to be fine as single cats.
If you have children under 6, and are looking at kittens, kittens over the age of 6 months are better with young children, since they are not as fragile. Peaches and BeeBee would be perfect.
Peaches is an orange tabby who has a buff-colored face. BeeBee is a shorthaired orange tabby who has white on her face. Both kittens are affectionate and playful.
To meet Peaches and BeeBee, please call the Whitley County Humane Shelterat 260.244.6664, or e-mail the shelter at dirhswc@yahoo.com.

Pet of the Week
Brought to you by Fort Financial Credit Union
Doc is an older Chihuahua-mix who is estimated at around 10 years of age.
Doc was brought to the shelter months ago, when his previous owner was placed in a nursing home. Doc is currently living in a foster home, and is known to be dog-friendly, housebroken, and a quiet dog. Though Doc appears to like children, we recommend that he be placed in an all adult household because of his age and size. Doc’s foster mom says, “He is a quiet Chihuahua, although he is a good watchdog. Doc is a great companion, he likes attention all of the time and wants to be with you – even following you from room to room.”
Doc does take medication for his heart, which costs around $5 per month.
Please call the shelter if you would like to arrange a time to meet him at 260.244.6664, or e-mail dirhswc@yahoo.com.
This dog qualifies for the “Seniors for Seniors” special! If you are 60 or older, you may adopt this pet for ½ price! Please call the shelter for more details.
