CHURUBUSCO, Ind. – The Churubusco 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars are playing in the Little League National tournament. The Churubusco Youth League – for the first time in many years – will host two local games for the national tournament.
The final leg of the tournament will be televised on ESPN in August.
The Churubusco Youth League will host games Wednesday, July 8, (vs. Leo) and Thursday, July 9, (vs Hamilton Park).
The games will begin at 7:45 p.m. both nights on the Denny Cramer Memorial Field at the Churubusco Community Park.
Two 12-year-old boys that are returning from last years’ All-Stars team are Luke Brunner and Devon Peters.
Both boys had 3 HR games against Albion last week. Brunner was 3-3 with 3HR and 6 RBI in the first game and Peters was 4-4 with 3HR and 10 RBI in the second game.
“They are quite the sight to see!” said Coach Daniel Burkhart.
“I would like to have a huge turnout on July 8th and July 9th if it at all possible,” Burkhart said of the upcoming national tournament in Churubusco.
“We have a very fun-to-watch team that hits the heck out of the ball.”
