scrip-logoCHURUBUSCO, Ind. –  What is Scrip and what does it mean to you?

$$$$$ savings and cash rebates, that’s what – and right here in your own community. Participants could receive cash rebates for shopping at places like Brevin’s Downtown Eatery & Lounge, Cohen Orthodontics, Magic Wand restaurant, McDonald’s, Mountaintop coffee shop and restaurant, Pit Stop Pizza, K & K Video & Books, and many more.

The Churubusco Elementary School PTO has partnered with Great Lakes Scrip Center to offer this gift card program to all Smith-Green Community Schools’ staff, families, and friends, as well as anyone in the community who wishes to participate.

The Great Lakes Scrip program allows non-profit organization members to purchase scrip for everyday expenses like food, clothing, and entertainment while earning a percentage of each dollar of scrip purchased back in revenue. Scrip is “no-selling” fundraising.back-school-kids-ces

How does it work? Great Lakes acts on behalf of non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of Scrip gift cards/certificates from a wide variety of vendors. The PTO then orders the Scrip from Great Lakes at a discount and sells to consumers at face value. The discount is the PTO’s profit. However, the PTO is sharing their profit with the community.

Participants will receive 50% of the PTO rebate – in cash! At the end of the school year, PTO officers will actually write Scrip participants a check for what they’ve earned by shopping at Scrip vendors.

Participants are essentially making money while purchasing items they would normally buy, anyway … gas, groceries, clothing, dining out, etc.

Some of the Churubusco vendors include are excited to announce that the local retailers mentioned above have also joined our program!

Order forms are available below to print and fill out and return to the elementary school office.

The PTO newsletter detailing the program and the order forms also are available at the elementary school or on the school Web site by clicking here.
