CHURUBUSCO - The Churubusco VFW Turtle Post 3846 hosts afternoon drawings every Wednesday and Saturday, but members must be signed up to win the cash prizes.

Euchre tournaments are held every Monday evening at the hall, located at 109 North Main Street, and open Sunday will be July 20. Open Sunday is a chance for members and their families and non-members to gather for a great meal and visit with friends.

New membership cards are in and can be picked up at the Post or by calling Sue Hamilton at 693-3055. Cost is $12.

The Turtle Post will be hosting the Fourth District meeting July 19. All members are urged to attend the dinner and meeting. Members will have a chance to meet the new officers for the Fourth District, including President Jill Wilson from Post 857.

Dinner will include pork tenderloin and dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and dessert. Call the Post for more information at 693-9257.

New auxiliary officers include state president Sandy Haney, senior vice Laura Morando and junior vice Annette Hullinger from the Fourth District, according to Turtle Post auxiliary president Judy Hogle.

Hogle also said the Post’s float was a big hit in the Turtle Days parade, thanks to the efforts of some Churubusco volunteers.

“Thanks to Dick Green (who helped with the float) and to Max Shelmadine, who made our great looking signs,” Hogle said.

“We also want to thank Dennis Degan for carrying the Post Colors,” said Bob Haynes, Post Commander. “Everyone did a nice job.”
